As you are aware of the fact that the PG seats of Ayurveda in Karnataka has increased to good numbers this year in different private colleges. This year there are 400 + PG seats approved in Karnataka. Out of them, only 50 seats are approved in Government colleges. Other seats are approved for the colleges run by Private Managements.The current seat saring ratio between Management and Government quota is 75:25 in Private colleges. It is understood that even though the number of seats have increased, more number native students of karnataka cannot take admissions for the PG course because of the existing Seat sharing policy. The first 50 students who have stood top in the entrance examination can take admission in the Government colleges and further around 100 students can take admission in Private colleges paying higher fees. The management quota is usually filled by students from other states by paying huge donations. Now, every year there are more number (More than 50%) of other state students who study in karnataka, become PG graduates and go back to their states to practice/ teach Ayurveda. This is a major draw back for the development of higher education in Karnataka. The nimber of Pg graduates who would practice and teach ayurveda in Karnataka will be very less. This would reflect on the recruitment process of Ayurveda graduates in the government sector. One such example is the appointment of Retired Government teachers in Government Ayurveda colleges of karnataka even though there are lot of PG graduates in Karnataka.

Karnataka can boast of having the highest number PG seats compared to any other state in India. But, the question is how many students of Karnataka are benefitted, in turn how far the state is benefitted.
On behalf of all the PG aspirants, we can approach the concerned authorities and have a dialouge to modify the seat sharing ratio between Management and Government seats.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the appreciation. Same time I congratulate you on initiating this blog for burning issue through the blog. Being a victim of non transparent seat sharing for PG courses due to rampant corruption in the department, I understand the trouble and humiliation faced by our mates to get a dream PG degree from Govt Colleges or Govt seat.
