To,
The Director,
Dept. of AYUSH,
Govt. of Karnataka

Sub: Delay in counseling of Ayurveda PG seats in Karnataka 2011-regarding

Sir,

As you are aware of the fact that this year The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka conducted PG entrance exams for admission in (Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Physiotherapy, Nursing and pharmacy) post-graduation courses on the 3rd of April 2011. The merit list of the same was declared on 23rd April 2011. But until now there has been no notification for the counseling for allotment of seats for the PG aspirants.  The first year post-graduation course is scheduled to start from first week of June in all constituent colleges under RGUHS. But the counseling is delayed due to non-availability of seat matrix from the Dept. of AYUSH, Govt. of India.
As you are also aware of the fact that last year the seat matrix in PG seats of Ayurveda colleges all over India was published very late. This resulted in a lot of confusion in the PG aspirants specially in Karnataka.
The non- availability of seat matrix in time has led to the following consequences-
  • Delay in counseling thus leading to missed opportunities for taking up other entrance examinations elsewhere.
  • Delay leading to postponement of first year exams of MD/MS courses.
  • Not announcing seat matrix in advance
  • Matrix announced by Govt. not followed by RGUHS.
[Ex for the point 4-: The PG seats in 2 subjects (5 seats in each subject) in Sri Kalabhairaveshwara Ayurvedic Medical college was granted by the Dept. of AYUSH, Govt. of India on 27th September 2010. (PG- 02 Subjects GOI letter No. R. 14011/29/2009-EP dated27.09.2010- Ref- Official website of CCIM-www.ccimindia.org). But the RGUHS did not include this college for the counseling which was held on 6th October 2010. All the seats were filled through management quota thus deceiving Karnataka PGET candidates of the opportunity to take admission in the particular college.]

On behalf of all the Ayurveda PG aspirants of Karnataka we request you to kindly look into the matter very seriously and start the counseling process as soon as possible.
We also request you to see to it that no irregularities as last year to be repeated in the counseling process and making it a  transparent one which would justify the aim of higher education in Ayurveda.

Thanking You, AYURVEDA PG ASPIRANTS 2011, KARNATAKA

The director considered our plea as an important and serious issue and has directed for verification of the above said issues.
He has framed a team which will verify the facts and submit a report to the him at the earliest. This is certainly a positive thing for us. This may solve the seat matrix issue soon and make the RGUHS counseling more transparent.
